This simple tool can eliminate sticking doors without shaving. It
can center the door in the opening.
Is a must have tool for the tradesman and a convenience for the home owner.
1. You will need a hammer and a flat head screwdriver.
2. To adjust the hinge, the pin has to be removed.
3. Most doors have three hinges. Remove the center pin. Leaving the top and bottom pins in place.
4. Adjusting the
top hinge: pull the pin, leaving leaving the pin in the bottom
hinge. Lean the door
away from the hinge on the jamb. To move the door down and toward
the lock side, slide the
hinge adjuster over the hinge on the jamb side, bend each knuckle evenly
toward
the lock side a little at a time, till reaching the the desired margin.
5. Adjusting the
door away from the lock side and up: bend the knuckles of the
hinge on
the door toward the door.
6. To check the
margin: the pin has to be reinstalled. After adjusting
the top hinge,
pull the pin on the bottom hinge. Pulling the door away from the
hinge on the jamb,
to adjust the door up and closer to the lock side, adjust the knuckles
of the hinge on
the jamb towards the lock side.
7. To adjust the
door down farther away from the lock side: bend the knuckles
of the hinge
on the door toward the door. Once adjusted, the center hinge has
to line up, you can
then adjust the hinge on the door jamb.
